Estonia Achieved Third Place at the Eurovision Song Contest

On Saturday evening, the Eurovision final took place in Basel, Switzerland, and was won by JJ representing Austria with the song “Wasted Love.” Estonia achieved a high third place. Austria received a total of 436 points – 258 from the international jury and 178 from the public vote.

Representing Estonia, Tommy Cash secured third place with the song “Espresso Macchiato,” falling behind Israel by just one point. Cash collected a total of 356 points – 98 from the international jury and 258 from the public. The last time Estonia placed this high was in 2002 with Sahlene’s song “Runaway.”

“It’s a pity we didn’t get that one point; things got a bit political there,” Tommy Cash said shortly after the final points were announced. “Sorry that we came third, but I think second and third place are still really good. Estonians, we’re still the most popular and most famous in this game.”

“I dare say that 98 points from the jury is one of the strongest jury scores in Estonia’s Eurovision history. And if we think about the level of interest in Tommy Cash before and during the contest… I honestly can’t recall anything quite like it – CNN and BBC were practically fighting over who would get the interview slot,” said Karmel Killandi. “We’re returning from Switzerland with a great feeling and a happy third place.”

In the Eurovision final, Tommy Cash earned 356 points with “Espresso Macchiato,” placing third in the 69th Eurovision Song Contest. Viewers from across all participating countries awarded Cash a total of 258 points, while the jury gave him 98. Estonia received points from 36 countries in total.

“The winning song was an exceptionally impressive combination of a stormy sea, amazing video visuals, and of course, very powerful vocal delivery,” Killandi noted. “A countertenor is already something special for a male voice, but it needs to be colored with beautiful tones, not just screamed from up high. This song was very skillfully crafted and had a strong visual impact.”

Congratulations to Tommy Cash and the entire Estonian team for a well-deserved 3rd place!
